This chapter explains how to install a GN4 server.
To install a GN4 server, you must have administrative privileges or be able to validate as an administrator.
Note: when installing GN4, this includes also i4.
Important
1.Read first the Prepare servers for better performances chapter and then perform the mandatory and recommended operations on the server(s).
2.Read About sizing GN4 database.
3.Decide how many IIS servers your system will have (see Use more than one IIS).
4.Before you start the installation, close all applications currently running on your system - including other Miles 33 applications, Tera applications, Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, and browser windows. It is also recommended to temporarily turn off virus protection during the installation process.
About upgrading from older version of GN4
If you are upgrading from an older version of GN4, you don't need to uninstall the previous version of GN4.
About registering or activating GN4
There is no need to register or activate GN4, but you need a license. If you are upgrading from an older version of GN4, the new system will use the existing license.
About installer
At the present time, there's no installer for automatic install of GN4 server. The installation steps are manual.
