WYSIWYG tab

In this dialog box you can set the personal preferences related to the editing of text.

Display tab

Select what you want to display in the WYSIWYG pane (applies only to Ted4, not to Fred4). It is recommended to enable all. If your styles do not contain the minimum and maximum number of lines in the formatted paragraph, you may want to untick Show paragraph grid.

Show images

Render inline images or show just placeholders. Recommended: select.

Show area borders

Display the frame borders. Applies only on linked stories, or on stories with a justification area. Recommended: select, if you want to review the fitting color or the frames (blue or red)

Show measure

Display the column width. Applies only on unlinked stories, or on stories without a justification area. Recommended: select

Show tables

Display the table grid or not. Recommended: select

Show rulers

Display the vertical and horizontal ruler. Recommended: select.

Note. To be able to access to the Web preview switch in the upper left corner of the WYSIWYG pane, ensure that Show rulers is selected.

Dispose as on page

Display frames as on page, or one below each other. Recommended: select

Show paragraph grid

Display paragraph grid in WYSIWYG editing that shows the required number of number of lines for all the paragraphs whose style have a min./max. number of lines set. The grid is made of one horizontal line spanning the width of the column for each required line - the last line is solid and the other ones are dashed. This option is available in both Ted4 and Fred4.

Auto-update Web preview

if you get bored with often auto-refreshes of Web preview while you write text, you may want to untick Auto-update Web preview. See Web mode (HTML/XML) preview pane.

Greeked text below

Select an appropriate value under which the text in the WYSIWYG pane is shown as greeked.

Measures

Select what you want for the ruler settings in Horizontal and Vertical. Please note that this setting does not affect the measurement unit that is displayed in tags (when tags are visible in the Source pane) - because tags use the default measurement unit in GlobalConfig instead.

Picture size

Enter the range of acceptable sizes (expressed in any allowed measurement unit) to render images in the WYSIWYG pane. This avoids that unlinked images appear too large or too small. For example, if you specify 100pt in MIN, and 100pt in MAX, all the unlinked images are normalized to that size: the images, smaller than 100pt are enlarged; the images, wider than 100pt are reduced.

Video color profile

Select an appropriate color profile.

Images quality

Select in which quality you want to view images-

Fitting/non fitting frames (images); overfull lines; non fitting paragraphs	Color for borders of the areas for following cases: (a) fitting to text (b) out of measure, or - optionally - text containing overfull lines or non fitting paragraphs.
Background of frame during editing	Color of text frame during WYSIWYG editing (in Ted4 or on page in Fred4). Useful when editing white text. The frame can be transparent too.
WYSIWYG background color	Color or the background. Recommended: leave on white, except when displaying white text; then, set to any other color.

Colors tab

Preference	Comment
Background	Select a background color for the WYSIWYG pane. Note: this might be useful to be able to read the white text that is paginated over a dark background on page - as the dark background is not part of the article, it won't be shown in the WYSIWYG pane, and your text will be 'invisible' - white on white.
Fitting/non fitting frames (images); overfull lines; non fitting paragraphs	Color for borders of the areas for following cases: (a) fitting to text (b) out of measure, or - optionally - text containing overfull lines or non fitting paragraphs.
