When you are working on the Pages main tab of Fred4 on one or more pages of an edition, there's an quick and easy way to open the same edition on the Editions main tab.

To open the parent edition from the Pages main tab

On the Pages navigator, right-click any of displayed pages, and then select Edit Edition.

This activates the Editions main tab, and loads the parent edition.
