On the Pages main tab in Fred4, while a page is opened, you can display text estimate values for:
Use the Tracking mode (View > Tracking Mode) to display text estimate (and other configured properties) for all articles on the page. Fred display switches to the Tracking mode and displays also the text estimate value (if configured properly) for all frames, linked to article elements. Information are not displayed for unlinked frames, and for frames not high enough Depending on the configuration (Edit > Preferences > Information > First and Edit > Preferences > Information > Others), the tracking info may be displayed only in the first frame of the element, or in all frames. On the following screenshot, the tracking information are displayed only for the first element in the flow, and they include the article name (&n placeholder), workstate (&w) and estimate value (&e). |
Select any frame of the linked element, and then on the Tools menu, click Words Estimate (linked frame). Notes •If you select unlinked frames, but there's a current article, the estimate regards the current article, and not the selected frames. Look at the central section of the Fred4 status bar, if there's a name displayed, it means there's a current article. •Estimate values do not take into account the current text format, but only the configured estimated values. Therefore, use them only on body frames/elements. |
Select one or more unlinked body frames, and then on the Tools menu, click Words Estimate (Selected frames). Note Estimate values do not take into account the current text format, but only the configured estimated values. Therefore, use them only on body frames/elements. See also |
