Tracking mode

Click to toggle graphic size

This view depicts so called "tracking mode", and it shows the status information about linked items on the current page.

The fill color of frames corresponds to the color of the folder's work state where the linked text resides. The fill color of the dummy images is fixed though, and corresponds to the preference you've set in Edit > Preferences > Colors > Out of measure frame, dummy or to be updated image. Moreover, grid, margin box, text frames borders, and the article links markers are also shown. Please notice:

Local texts are always shown as such, without status information. They do not reside in folders, but belong to the page itself, and thus cannot have any work state-based status.

The real images are always displayed as such, unless you deselect Images on the View menu. In such case, also real images are shown with link information.

The empty frames are shown as such.

To achieve such view on the current page

On the View menu, click Tracking mode.

This makes sure that Guides, Column, Frames, Images, and Text Information are selected, while Module, Formats and Types are not selected.

To make such view as your default view (not recommended)

On the Edit menu, click Preferences, and then on the Display tab, select Draw images, Draw text information and Draw text frames, and deselect Draw type label, Draw format label.

The text estimating, if enabled, works only for linked frames, and not for unlinked.
