Delete users and groups

You can delete only users an groups that have no references in the GN4 database, e.g. no folders, no permissions, no content etc.

If users or groups have references, an error is displayed when you attempt to delete them.

If you want to delete a user or group, delete first all its references. If you want to keep the references, you cannot delete a user, but you can disable it.

Disabled users do not count in licensing, but they appear in all lists (creators, modifiers, authors etc).

You can also rename users, e.g. disabled1, disabled2 etc.

To delete an user and all its configurations

In the Command prompt, enter the following command:

Cmd4 spike –ids <userid>  –extend config.securityRef -userName xxxx -password yyyy

where xxxx is the name of a GN4 user who can logon to system with sufficient permissions to perform this operation and yyyy is the password.

Note: the above connects to the default connection: should you want to specify the connection or server name, see cmd4 examples.

Replace <userid> with the real id, e.g. 12345.
