While GN4 applications will reconnect successfully if the Internet connection gets interrupted and then re-established with the same IP address of your computer, in versions prior to 2.1 it won't work if the computer's IP address changes (e.g. reconnecting to another network, wireless or wired).
In version 2.1 you can set tick the IP changing box on the Login tab of the Edit user dialog box in EdAdmin4, or the IP changing box on the Permissions tab of the Edit Group dialog box in EdAdmin4and so enable the reconnection with the changed IP address (the "IP changing" field
Example 1 You work from home using your wireless router, and then leave Ted4 open while closing the lid of your laptop, so the laptop goes in the stand-by mode. If you reopen the lid in short time (shorter than the "keep-alive" timeout of GN4), you can continue to work in Ted4 Example 2 Similar as previous, but while the computer is on stand-by, you move from your flat to the newsroom on another side of the city. When your laptop reconnects in the newsroom, GN4 will warn you that "There is no login..." - that's because your IP address did change in the meantime. In that case, exit GN4, and then restart it. There is a chance you loose unsaved changes. It is recommended to sign out if you suspect your IP address was changed. See Signing out. |
