To edit text on page
Double-click any linked frame of the article element, or a local frame (if the text is not linked).
To edit text in Text Editor pane
Select any linked frame of the article element, or a local frame (if the text is not linked), and then press Spacebar.
To end editing, do one of the following:
•Press the Escape key to save changes and end text editing. Note: this is a subject of the personal preference (Edit > Preferences > Extra > General > Escape Ends Text Editing).
•Click anywhere on the empty space of page.
About editing text in the Text Editor pane To edit an article element in the Text Editor in Fred4, select its frame and then press the Spacebar. If you already started text editing on page, then press SHIFT+Spacebar to switch to the Text Editor. The page window is split vertically (default) or horizontally, and the text is shown on the right side. The cursor is positioned on the first word of the selected column. The text in the frame is locked by you and other users cannot edit it neither in Ted4, nor if Fred4. For example, if you edit one body frame in Fred4, the entire body text is locked by you - but not the headline element, nor caption - if any. Drag the vertical splitter left and right and change the proportion of the space assigned to the page pane and the text pane. Move the content of the page window by "hand" cursor (hold ALT and drag the page) while editing text. To switch to the horizontal split, while the cursor in the text editing pane, on the Windows menu, select Split horizontally. Please note that the position of the cursor in the Text Editor is lost when you switch to a different split. Click the text again to continue editing. About editing text on page The cursor turns into an I-beam, so you can immediately modify the text in the frame. The text in the frame is locked by you and other users cannot edit it neither in Ted4, nor if Fred4. For example, if you edit one body frame in Fred4, the entire body text is locked by you - but not the headline element, nor caption - if any. You can set the color of the frame background during page editing in Options > Preferences > Colors. The frame background can also be transparent. You can zoom closer to text.
