Create a straight horizontal or vertical rule

Ensure that the Toolbox is displayed, or on the Window menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Toolbox.

To create a rule:

1.	Click the icon, or press V.

2.	Move the pointer of the mouse on the page. Click where you want to start the object. Drag until the selection rectangle reaches the final desired dimension. To draw a vertical rule, make the selection higher than wider. To draw a horizontal rule, make the selection wider than higher.

Note: Horizontal rules are drawn on the top border of the selection rectangle. Vertical rules are drawn on the left border of the selection rectangle.

3.	Release the mouse button.
