To enable the automatic refresh in Fred4, on the Preferences dialog box, select Enable alerts. Exit and then restart Fred4.

Now, all the changes on articles, pages, images you have open, will be automatically refreshed.

This applies also on all listings.

The personal preference (Edit > Preferences > Main > Automatic refresh Every (mins) is still available, but deprecated. When ticked, it auto-reloads all the open pages in specified time interval (in minutes). It is recommended to use the alert based refreshes as they are better and consuming less resources. If the value in the personal preference is 0, the refresh is disabled, but the alert based refreshes will still work.  Recommended: 0

Note: if many users enable this function with a low time, there may be a performances penalty.
