You may want to enable the automatic update/refresh of the content you are editing, monitoring or displaying. This is your personal preference and it affects Ted4 and Fred4.

The default setting: enabled

The recommended setting: enabled

To enable or disable receiving of automatic alerts

1.In Ted4, on the Edit menu of the Articles main tab, click Preferences.

2.In Fred4, on the Edit menu of the Pages main tab while editing page, click Preferences.

3.On the Main tab, do one of the following

To enable alerts, tick Enable alerts (on app restart).

To disable alerts, untick Enable alerts (on app restart)

4.Click OK to save the preference.

5.Close the GN4 application and then restart it.

Notes

The setting is common for Fred4 and Ted4.

It may happen that the enabling of alerts slows down your system, including text editing.

What happens if the setting is not ticked?

If the setting for the automatic alerts is not ticked in your personal preferences, you will not receive anymore the alerts about changes changes that other users did, or even what you did - if the content has to be refreshed by the system (that is the case, for example, when moving an article that contains section-level color tags from one page section to another).

Therefore, to see the latest situation in any given listing or document, you will need to click the refresh button refreshbutton in the listings, or in the toolbars, or press F5. Please remember that the manual refresh applies only on the current listing or document.
