It is required to disable automatic Windows updates on all the servers involved in the GN4 system. This includes also SQL servers.

The reasons we ask you to disable automatic Windows updates are that:

•Automatic Windows updates may restart a server and this may lead to the database corruption or other problems.

•Some Windows updates may be indesiderable. See "Dangerous" Windows updates.

IMPORTANT

This doesn't mean you should never update servers. On the contrary, it is recommended to keep servers up-to-date, but through manual updates and installing an an update only if it makes sense for your system.

Especially it is recommended to keep the .NET Framework on servers and clients up-to-date.
