Difference between administrators and non-administrator users

Typically, you may perform all the tests of the system functionalities as an administrator user (member of the GN4 Administrators group), and everything works. Then, a non-administrator user attempts to test the same functionalities, and nothing works.

Why is that so?

That is so because administrators belongs to the Administrators group which have the Default permission turned on, and this provides to all the members the following functionalities:

The methods to create new items that cannot be created without the Default permission.

An access to all the GN4 items even if the access to those items was not explicitly granted (unless the access was explicitly denied).

Example

You create a new typography but forget to set the typography permissions. Still, being a member of the Administrator group, you can use it and work with it normally. Unfortunately, no other non-administrator user will be able to do the same.

The non-administrator users typically do not belong to the Administrators group, and the Default permission is typically not granted to any other group. This means that such users will be rejected on all items where their group(s) do not have an explicit access.

Therefore, the advice is: test the new system using a non-administrator login and not the Administrator's one.
