The GN4 keyword index contains:
•Operations (verbs), e.g. adding, adjusting, archiving, printing etc. (gerunds).
•Content types, e.g. stories, articles, pages, editions, objects, colors, etc., usually in plural - so don't look for font, but for fonts.
•Items and concepts, e.g. add-ins, alerts, audit trail, etc.
•GNML built-in tags, variables and styles. They are mostly on the first level, prefixed with >. See Searching for GNML tags in Index of HTML help files for details.
•Command line switches, prefixed with /.
•Messages and filenames, e.g. Admin4Config.xml.
•Chapter titles, usually starting with a capital letter and ending with the suffix.
•In builds prior to 1000: Topic titles, usually starting with a capital letter and ending with the (topic) suffix. In build 1000 and newer, the topic titles are not indexed anymore. See Update on change in indexing since help build 1000.
•Programming methods (followed by term scripting) See Searching for commands in Index of commands.
•Topic type, e.g. , (chapter: 'chaptername'), (overview), (explained), (scripting commands and scripts), (tags), (troubleshooting and FAQ), (reference) etc.
Such keywords are usually a second-level keywords, enclosed in parenthesis, to force them appear on the top of the keywords list.
•Version related information, in the format version X.Y, e.g. version 1.6. Moreover, you can search for new or changed features.
•Verbs are typically in gerund. •Nouns are generally in plural, except where plural made no sense. •Some terms appear both in plural and in singular - that's the case when the singular is used for the command name. •On the second level keywords, to similar items are grouped together by a common prefix, e.g. in a main keyword Web preview, the second level keywords are prefixed by on, e.g. on Publishing main tab and on Articles main tab, that keeps them close one to each other in the index. •Items are lowercase, except for case-sensitive commands/statements, and for topic titles (start with uppercase). •The term tags is used for typographical tags instead of markup, commands, etc. •Tag names are prefixed by the > letter in the index. •Command names are distinguished of other text by suffix (class), (command), (scripting). •The terms images or graphics are used instead of photos, or pictures. •The term personal preferences is used instead of preferences or user preferences. •The terms wire stories, wire images, wires are used for agencies. •The term presets is used instead of configurations. •The terms finding, searching are considered as synonyms - you can search by either. •When searching for the GN4 applications information, search for Fred4, Ted4, EdAdmin4, and not Fred, Ted, Edadmin. •Use the terms User Browser, Administrative Browser to find information related to the browser interface. |
