Tables in GN4 are part of a text content.
Therefore, to create a table, start editing a text and then perform the steps as explained in Creating a table, or - if you opt to use style-based tables, see Style-based Tables.
Before inserting a table in a text, ensure that the position of text cursor is on the beginning of an empty paragraph, and not in the middle of a text line. That's because a table may be inserted only on the beginning of a paragraph.
Tables flow with surrounding text. For example, a table moves through linked frames when the text above it changes in point size, or when text is added or deleted.
When you create a table in a text linked to a page, or in a text with geometry, or in a text frame (in Fred4), the table fills the width of the entire text frame. When you create a table in a non-linked text, the table fills the default column width, as specified in the format, assigned to a text.
The default height of a table row is equivalent to the leading at the insertion point.
