Categorization is the act of adding identifiers known as categories to the content. The purpose of such identifiers is to group somehow the similar content together, e.r. sports news, international news etc.
Many content providers enrich the delivered content with categories. Therefore, when you receive a wire story, image or video, you may expect that it contains some categories.
GN4 categorization is custom, but also contains some widely accepted and standardized classification terms, such as IPTC genre, scene, subject code, subject qualifier and task kinds.
However, you can change, add or delete categories from GN4 category sets.
About categories in imported content
Categories provided in wire news may exist or not in your in-house classification.
GN4 provides a way to rename/remap original categories to your in-house categories. Such remapping can be:
•One-to-one, e.g. the original category named xxxx is automatically remapped in the received content to the in-house category yyyy.
•more-to-one, e.g. the original categories named 111, ab cd or 3a8 etc. are automatically remapped in the received content to the in-house category zzzz.
