On the bottom of the GN4 palette, there is typically a taskbar, full of icons. The taskbar is tab-specific, i.e. different for each tab.

How can I tell which command is active?

The current command is highlighted in yellow.

Why I do not see the taskbar?

The taskbar appears only if there's enough horizontal space to display it. If you do not see the taskbar, make the palette window wider.
