Show/hide guides

On the View menu, click a guide related option you want.

Lock/unlock guides

On the Layout menu click Lock/Unlock Guides.

Note: you cannot move master guides even if unlocked – to move them, open the master page and move them there.

Add vertical or horizontal guide

Click the guide tool or and then click on page..

Change guides color, dashing and stacking

On the Edit menu, click Preferences, and then on the Grid tab, select what you want for user-defined and for master guides.

Move and delete guides

1.Position the normal tool over the guide until it changes into .

2.Move the guide where you want.

Note: If you drag it outside of the page margins, it is removed.

Move guide by entering its position

1.Select the guide

2.On the Layout menu, click Edit selected guide. Enter the new position.

Create and remove object related guides

1.Select objects you want to create guides for.

2.On the Layout menu, click Add Object Guides.

To remove them (if you didn't move the original object in the meantime) click Remove Object Guides.

If the object was moved, then remove the additional guides manually, one-by-one.

Snap objects to guides and grid

To enable/disable it, on the Layout menu, select the appropriate snap option.

Set nudge on the page level

1.On the Layout menu, click Edit Nudge.

2.Enter appropriate values for horizontal and vertical nudge.

Notes

•It is recommended to keep horizontal nudge on 0, and to set the vertical nudge to the default text leading.

•It is recommended that modules height should be a multiple of the vertical nudge.
