On the original pages, the objects may be locked and grouped. Grouped together may cause the wrong measurement reading, especially for the width and the height.

To unlock objects in InDesign

On the Object menu, click Unlock All on Spread.

To ungroup objects in InDesign

Press CTRL+A, and then on the Object menu, click Ungroup.

You may need to click it more than once, until all groups and subgroups are ungrouped.

How to recognize that objects are grouped?

InDesign displays a dashed borders of grouped objects.

Important

Should you close the InDesign page without saving (that is usually the case when processing the original documents), the locking and grouping will return to the original value, and you will have to repeat the unlocking and ungrouping again on the next opening.
