Text formatting of paragraph type affects the entire paragraph. It controls the parameters of the paragraph (indents, leading, width of column, alignment) and it may be inserted only at the beginning of the paragraph. By their scope, major part of tags of this type are local for the paragraph where it is inserted, therefore, its effect ceases at the end of that paragraph, but can be globalized, by adding >g<, >global< or >default< at the end of the tag string. However, some paragraph tags are global by default, and some cannot be made global.

It is identified by GNML tags placed at the beginning of the paragraph. The paragraph tags are usually inserted by choosing styles or pressing predefined hot-keys.
