The user configurable fitting procedures affect one or more of the following text attributes: type size/type horizontal scale, tracking and space band of the headline.

Each method may be independently set. A configuration may be created, containing the changes for only one method, for the any combination of two methods, or for all three methods, all of this for each step independently.

Type size

This text attribute can be varied by stretching and shrinking in percentage. In three even or uneven steps, the stretching function increments the type size of the entire paragraph for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is incremented by one or the third step is carried out. The shrinking function decrements the type size of the entire paragraph for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is decremented by one or the third step is carried out.

Horizontal scale

This text attribute can be varied by stretching and shrinking in percentage. In three even or uneven steps, the stretching function increments the type base of the entire paragraph (making the characters wider) for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is incremented by one or the third step is carried out. The shrinking function decrements the type base of the entire paragraph (making the characters narower) for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is decremented by one or the third step is carried out.

Tracking

This text attribute can be varied by stretching and shrinking in percentage/10. In three even or uneven steps, the stretching function increments the tracking of the entire paragraph (widening the space between characters) for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is incremented by one or the third step is carried out. The shrinking function decrements the tracking of the entire paragraph (narowing the space between characters) for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is decremented by one or the third step is carried out.

Spaceband

This text attribute can be varied by stretching and shrinking in percentage. In three even or uneven steps, the stretching function increments the spaceband of the entire paragraph (widening the space between words) for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is incremented by one or the third step is carried out. The shrinking function decrements the spaceband of the entire paragraph (narowing the space between words) for the specified value until the number of lines in the paragraph is decremented by one or the third step is carried out.
