Troubleshooting deleting

Build 1501 on 14/Nov/2017  This topic last edited on: 31/Aug/2016, at 14:08

There is a bug in 2.0 and possibly in older version too (GN4-2352 - Core: Cleanup process stop if the expiration rules find a locked object). This is fixed in build xxxx versions yyyyy. The bug prevented the cleanup process through expiration rules if it founds a locked item. If the expiration rule find a locked object‏, it ends without applying the other expiration rules. For a workaround in the affected versions, remove the locks on all objects by deleting all records on the checkout table (IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE NO ONE IS USING THE SYSTEM BEFORE DELETING RECORDS!). Then execute the srv4 cleanup that will spike all the expired objects.

If you cannot spike an item because an error claims that it is referenced by something, consider first to remove the reference, e.g. unlink an article from a page, or unpublish it from a publishing.

Attempting to spike items, you may encounter the error:

For the solution, see Error importing an object from the XML generated by the XSL transformation associated with the object type 'item1': 'item2' (ERR0252).

The delete process displays error It is not possible to delete article 'EU_VYE_Pag_3_06062016_4xc' (id: 3187612) because the spike of its children failed (ERR1331). See It is not possible to delete item1 because the spike of its children failed (ERR1331) for the instructions.

The delete process displays error It is not possible to delete Apoyo '0706_P3_SupCos_A0858,pull02' (id: 3199922) because it is referenced by: text geometry '0706_P3_SupCos_A0858,pull02_0' (id: 3199923) (ERR0230). The possible reason might be that the geometries of the articles remain locked. Use the Locks main tab in Fred to check and unlock.

The delete process displays error It is not possible to delete text geometry 'EU_MAR_Pag_1_06062016_3ws,pull01' (id: 3195246) because it is referenced by: page layer'El Universo 06/06/2016 DI_Lunes_06 B1' (id: 3044766) (ERR0230). The possible reason is that the article link was not removed correctly. Locate the article in the Editorial navigator, right-click it and then hold SHIFT while clicking Unlock. Note: this works in 2.4 and newer.

The delete process displays error It is not possible to delete photo caption '060616V_P8_CanCos_A0~7861~748159' (id: 3176998) because it is a child of article '060616V_P8_CanCos_A0~786125' (id: 3177002) (ERR0259). It seems that there's an attempt to spike an image that is linked to an unspiked article and this cannot be done. The image has to be unlinked from the article, or the article has to be spiked before.
