Testing the new shape Tool

For each new library shape you create in the sysHB library, you have to test the Tool behavior before you put the shape in production.

The first test is performed by drawing simple frames of various widths and heights, different of the library shape width and height. Then, one at a time, drag the library shape over frame(s). When the shape replaces the frame, check if it still looks ok.

On the left side of the following screenshot you see on the page two frames and the library shape (on the pasteboard) we are about to test.

The top frame is 4 columns (which is more than the library shape), but it is shorter of the library shape. The second frame is wider and higher of the library shape.

When you replace those frames with the library shape, the total width and the height of the library shape has to adapt perfectly to the frame dimensions and position. If that is so, it means you set the correct Tool attributes. Otherwise, you need to adjust them.

On the right side of the following screenshot you see the frames already replaced with the library shape. Do not expect that the library shape automatically changes the number of columns in this phase: the number of columns remain the same, but you can check if the library shape elements fit, do not overlap wrongly and so on. In this example, everything is ok.

Things to check

Does the shape total width corresponds to the frame width?

Does the shape total height corresponds to the frame height?

Is the headline height preserved (is set so)?
