You can view the number of characters and words in text, or number or current and required characters in headlines with specified number of lines and width.
In the status bar of Ted4, locate the last field. It may contain something as "302/64". The numbers get interpreted according user preferences and the formatting of the current paragraph. •If the current paragraph is not formatted by a style which defines minimum and maximum number of lines, or if the user didn't select the option Display number of characters for headlines, the first number is the number of characters. The second number is number of words. Commented text is not counted. •If the current paragraph is formatted by a style which defines minimum and maximum number of lines, and if the user did select the option Display number of characters for headlines, the first number is the number of current characters, and the second number is number of required characters to fill the paragraph. If your status bar does not show the expected counters, on the Edit menu, click Preferences, and then on the Main tab, ensure that you've selected Enabled. Moreover, ensure that in the Status bar box, you've selected Text height, characters and words. Note: the characters and word counter works on an unjustified text too. You can also display the estimated number of characters to fill up a headline. |
