In Ted4/Fred4
If you and other users are editing elements of the same article, the article is automatically refreshed after saved changes (as long as Enable alerts is selected in your personal preferences: Edit > Preferences > Main > Enable alerts). You may, however, want to refresh it manually, to see the latest changes right on.
All the refresh functions are under menu View, Refresh.
To refresh an article structure and content, geometry of all article elements, and formats
On the View menu, point to Refresh, and then select All.
To refresh:
•The article structure and content: right-click the article icon in the article tree, point to Refresh and then click Refresh.
•The article geometry: Right-click the article icon in the article tree, point to Refresh and then click Refresh geometry.
•The format of the article element you are editing: on the Style menu, click Refresh.

The text format in Ted4 are refreshed automatically, if page make-up operator changes the format of the linked text in Fred4, but you have to refresh it manually, if someone modifies in the EdAdmin4 a format while the text is under editing on your workstation. When the format gets refreshed in either way, it is reloaded, and the text is rejustified.

Dummy images in Ted4 which are in the meantime replaced with the real images, get refreshed ONLY if the article structure is checked in. If the article is checked-out, dummy images will not be refreshed. To refresh dummy images in an article, check it in, and then on the Tools menu, click Refresh All. |
Auto-refresh of geometry To receive automatic geometry refreshes, ensure that Enable alerts is selected in your personal preferences: Edit > Preferences > Main > Enable alerts. When the page designer changes the layout of frames, linked to an article element, while it is opened in Ted4 for editing or reading, the Ted4's window is automatically updated. This geometry refresh does not includes changes in the article structure. Assume that the page designer adds a photo and a caption to the article. To view such change, you have to refresh the article manually. Manual geometry refresh To refresh the article geometry manually, right-click the article icon in the article tree, and point to Refresh and then click Refresh Geometry, or refresh all. |
