A table normally takes the width of the frame in which it is created. By default, the width of table cells is proportional. If you change the width of the text frame, the table columns change their width too.
If you make all columns of fixed width, then you can make table narrower than its frame. In such a case, you can decide where you want the table to be aligned within the frame.
Place the insertion point in any cell, on then on the Type menu, select Edit Table. In Margins, select the value for the left margin.
Notes:
•The standard paragraph alignment has not effect to the entire table.
