Cascading paragraph styles are special multi-part styles. In such styles, you can activate the next part by inserting a Bell character @ on the desired position of text. The main cascading style is applied as any other paragraph style: the "cascading" parts of the style are applied by pressing F10 on the position of the cursor. The style in the example below has only two parts: the first part paints the text in white color, on the red background, in Helvetica bold; the second part paint the text in white on the green background, in Helvetica italic.

1.Apply a cascading style on a paragraph. Write some text, e.g. write First. Then, click where you want to switch to the next part of the cascading style.
2.Press F10.
3.Now, write the test of text, e.g. write second. This part is automatically formatted as required.

A style can be applied by keys too. See Apply styles by keys.

You can prevent deleting of Bells in the source editing window with hidden markup or in the WYSIWYG window. This includes also preventing of deletion of styles and end of paragraphs. This is useful when editing headlines. See Protecting tags against deleting.
