You may want to select different colors for the text, tags and special coding in the source pane when editing text on the Articles main tab or in the source pane - Text Editor on the Pages main tab.

This helps to distinguish better the various parts of the source text.

The default setting: Black.

The recommended setting: Select colors according your taste.

To select the colors for the source pane, leaving black as the standard for the text

1.On the Edit menu of the Articles main tab, or on the Edit menu of the Pages main tab while editing text, click Preferences.

2.On the Colors sub-tab of the Source tab, click the Markup button, and then click the [...] button next to the Foreground color. Select the Red or the similar color. This will show the GNML tags in red color.

3.Click the HTML button, and then click the [...] button next to the Foreground color. Select the Blue or the similar color. This will show HTML tags in blue color.

4.Click the In Region button, and then tick the Use background color.

5.Click the [...] button next to the Background color. Select the Yellow or the similar color. This will show the text in the current region on the yellow background. Note: the parts of text which belongs to the active region appear on the WYSIWYG pane and on page. This setting makes sense only if you're editing texts that contain parts, assigned to different regions, being those publishing channels (text for Web, text for SMS etc), or geographical regions (Metro, North, etc).

6.Click the Out Region button, and then tick the Use background color.

7.Click the [...] button next to the Background color. Select the Red or the similar color.

8.Tick Strikeout. This will show the text not in the current region on the red background and strike out. Note: such text does not appear in the WYSIWYG and on page.

9.Under Notes mode, click Notes mode 1 and then click Edit.

10.Tick Strikeout. This will show blind text as strike out.

11.Click OK to save the preference.

About saving preferences in database

When you click OK, the preferences are updated in the memory and applied right-on. GN4 will store the preference in the database when you exit application. Anyway, should your GN4 crash or exit in any other abnormal way, the preference will not be stored in database, and you will have to repeat the previously described steps.

This preference is stored in the Editorial_SystemUserConfig for the securityRef corresponding to the user name. To display that configuration, open EdAdmin4, click Client Applications, expand the search pane in the left sidebar, in the Name enter editorial, and in the securityRef select the name of the user. Double-click the Editorial_SystemUserConfig to open the content. Locate the preference by name.
