Review the schema in EdAdmin4

You can review the schema in EdAdmin4 and get information about schema file where an object is defined, which attributes it has with details for each attribute, containing access class, default and allowed templates for objectUI and searchUI and other properties, object's metadata, indexes, key fields, full-text fields and computed attributes XSLs.

1.Run EdAdmin4 and then, in Application Configuration, select Schema.

2.In the Schema navigator (left pane), select what you want to view:

oSchema Objects, under urn:schemas-teradp-com:gn4tera

oSimple Types

oComplex Types

By default, the entire tree is expanded on startup: the previous screenshot shows all items collapsed.

Expand or look at the tree under urn:schemas-teradp-com:gn4tera, and then expand object - you will get a long list of actual schema objects.

Scroll down to find the one you want to review. The 'find' functionality is not available, neither typing the object's name on the tree.

Hover over the object name in the tree, and then look at the tooltip: it displays the schema file, and a short description of the object.

Select an object - this displays the tree of its attributes in the middle pane (on the Attributes tab). The object name is displayed in the header (linkobject).

If the Show inherited check box is selected (by default it is selected), also the parent objects are displayed.

The 'abstract' objects (see Abstract object types) are marked with an orange ball.

For each attribute you can see the name, and the type (id, string, DateTime etc.)

You can expand or collapse individual children by clicking the icon_expand1 icon before the object's name.

Select an object - this displays the tree of its attributes in the middle pane (on the Attributes tab), and then click the attribute in the middle pane. The attribute name is displayed in the header (SpikedInfoTime). The General tab is displayed by default.

General tab information

The general tab gives some basic information about the selected attributes. Besides the type, name and description, it lists other available properties (the number of properties varies from attribute to attribute):

•Access class: it determines the permissions you need to grant to users to be able to manage this attribute. See Access classes for more details.

•Is computed: True means that the attribute is auto-generated, and not available for a user editing. See Defining automatically computed attributes for more details.

•Is Optional: True means the attribute is compulsory, while False means it is optional. See Object attributes for mode details

•Full-text index: shows the name of the index field, or nothing - if the attribute is not indexed.

•Default value: shows the default value, or nothing, if there is no such value.

•Min or Max Length/Value: shows the minimum or maximum allowed value, or nothing, if there is no such limitation.

•Is Element: True, if the attribute is defined in the schema as element (changes the rendering in XML).

UI tab information

The UI tab shows which is the default template, and the allowed templates to be applied in the objectUI for the editing of that attribute.

SearchUI tab information

The SearchUI tab shows which is the default template, and the allowed templates to be applied in the searchUI in the forms to search for that attribute.

Usage tab

The Usage tab shows in which objects the attribute is used. Inherited attributes will be used on many places. For a better readability, you can expand or collapse individual sections. On the following screenshot, the Referencing descripting name xpaths section is expanded while other sections are collapsed.

The Object type properties tab (just below the menu)

General subtab

The General subtab shows the basic properties of the object, currently selected in the Schema navigator. Besides the name and description, it lists other available properties (the number of properties varies from object to objects):

•Is Abstract: True, if the object is of the abstract type. See Abstract object types.

•Audit Load:

•Access: it determines the permissions you need to grant to users to be able to manage this object. See Access classes for more details.

•Descriptive name: .

•Short descriptive name: .

Metadata tab

The Metadata tab shows the metadata associated by the schema to the current object. On the following screenshot, the article object has the listed metadata with specified default values.

Indexes tab

The Indexes tab shows which indexes are created by the schema for the selected object. On the following screenshot, the folder object has the listed indexes created by default.

Keys tab

The Keys tab shows which fields are index keys. On the following screenshot, the font object has the listed keys fields used for indexes created by default.

Full-text indexes tab

The Full-text indexes tab shows which fields are indexed in full-text. On the following screenshot, the article object has the listed fields used for full-text search created by default.

Compute tab

The Compute tab shows the XSL for the computed attributes. On the following screenshot, the article object has the listed XSL used for the computed attributes.

Usage tab

The Usage tab shows where the object is references. On the following screenshot, the article object is references also by extDoc.articles.
