Rename and disable users

You may want to rename the user instead to simple disable it, in case you want to use the same user name for another user.

Note: in the standard configuration, when you create an user, the associated workflow creates a user folder and the user partition right on. Therefore, you have to rename first the user folder, then the user partition, and finally the user.

To rename and disable an user

1.Run EdAdmin4, and then under Security, click Partitions.

2.Locate the partition with the name such as partusername. Example: if the user name is brunos, look for the partition partbrunos.

3.Select the partition and then on the Action menu, click Edit, and then rename that partition into something like disabled_oldname. Example: if the partition name was partbrunos, then the new name will be disabled_partbrunos.

4.Under Security, click Folders and Quotas.

5.Under users root (by default it is system/users, but it can be different on your system), locate the folder with the same name as the user you want to rename.

6.Select the folder and then on the Action menu, click Edit, and then rename that folder into something like disabled_oldname. Example: if the folder name was brunos, then the new name will be disabled_brunos. Remove all the permissions of all users on that folder, except for Administrators.

7.Under Security, click Users and Groups.

8.Locate the user you want to rename.

9.Select the user and then on the Action menu, click Edit, and then select Disabled.

Now you can create a new user with the same name. The old user won't appear in the listing of users, if you clear the Disabled check box.
