Build 1501 on 14/Nov/2017  This topic last edited on: 24/Oct/2016, at 18:44

Since the version 2.1, you can use the direct printing, i.e. to print on a shared printer.

Click to toggle graphic size

Configuration changes

Add the new print config "Printer"

..\Config\Data\GN4\printConfigs.xml

Add the new printQueue "Printer"

..\Config\Data\GN4\printQueue_Printer.xml

Modify the print template "PrintDraft"

..\Config\Data\GN4\printTemplate_PrintDraft.xml

Schema is updated:

..\Config\Schemas\GN4Editorial.xsd

How it looks like in the printing dialog box?

Click to toggle graphic size

When you select the print configuration Printer, or the print queue Printer, the dialog box changes into Output printer, with the Setup button and Use default setup check-box.

Click Local Edit or Check-out to be able to select a printer.

In the Output printer, select a printer.

If you do not see any printer, it means either:

The network doesn't contain any shared printer.

You are connected not in VPN but over Internet, and printers are not visible over Internet.

The printers are installed with the user different than IIS user.

You do not have permissions to access shared printers.

To be able to setup the printer, untick Use default setup. Most likely, you will need to have permissions to manage network printer to be able to change the setup.

Notes

The combo box shows ONLY the printers visible by server (as other print configuration, the print operation is executed by server).

If the printer is also visible by client, the user can set the printer options by dialog (the print option dialog change from printer to printer. Warning: it is possible to have settings that conflict with the standard GN4 Print settings. Should it happen, use the default printer settings.
