Link labels

The purpose of link labels is to show you the link order.  Their color and behavior depends whether they appear on frames, linked to articles, or single stories.

The link number has two parts: the first number is related to layer, and the second number is related to the frame order in the flow.

Layer portion of the link number

The layer portion of the link number is the first number on the link label. It is 1 on the initial layer. Therefore, four legs in a standard story which begins and ends on the page 4 are numbered as 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, and 1-4.

If you link the same story to another layer, e.g. on the page 8, the first frame on that page is numbered as 2-1, the second frame linked to the same text as 2-2 and so on.

Order portion of the link number

The order portion of the link number is the second number on the link label. It is 1 for the first frame in the flow, and then it is incremented for other linked frames. For the stories linked to more layers, the order number on other layers restarts from 1.

Link labels color

The color of the link labels can be blue, yellow or gray.

Blue labels mark frames linked to the current article.

Gray labels mark frames linked to articles which are not currently selected.

Displaying link labels

To display link labels, click any frame in the thread. Please note that labels are displayed only on frames which do not contain any text yet, or tags, and only on frames which do belong to the current text or article. Labels are never shown on the frames which do contain text, or tags, except if you switch the view to the Link information. To review the link order, on the View menu, click Text information, and then click the flow you want to review.
