Since the version 2.3.2782.x you can drag, from a listing, a linked article over a page in another edition, and Fred will create an article copy and link it to the selected shapes on the target page.

When prompted to enter the name of the article copy, enter a name that is unique for the target folder.

Note: when dragging a linked article onto a page in the same edition, Fred prompts you to confirm that you want to link a copy - as it might be just an error and not the intention.
