The manual import is located in Fred, Editions main tab, and it works only when an edition is open since it allows to import a plan only into the currently selected edition.

With an edition open, on the Ads menu, click Beacon XML import. The following dialog appears:

On the File to import (.xml), enter the full path to the plan file, or click the [...] button to browse for it ans select it.

Select the import mode:

Ads only – if the edition exists and editorial people has already been working on some pages. Only the Ads will be imported and no changes will be done to the edition structure.

Pages and ads – Both pages and ads will be imported. If the imported layout has less pages than the previous, the removed paged will remain in the edition as logical pages. This allows eventual editorial material already placed into those pages to be moved into other pages. If a page already exists only the Ads layer is imported.

Pages only – In case an empty edition should be created.

On the Pages tab select the proper options for your edition.

To use the page templates (masters) defined in the .xml Beacon file, tick the option Assign masters from XML.

The master pages must exist in the current edition with the precisely same names as being specified in the node:

beacon_export/product/planned_pages/planned_page/data/template

of the .xml Beacon file (see Beacon schema).

The Master pages in the template edition should look something like this:

The Beacon file may contains the page workstate that can be imported by ticking “Import Workstates” on the Pages tab.

On the Ads tab select a destination Ads folder for the imported ads.
