When you modify a PATTN file, you have to load it in the GN4 database.

In versions 1.5 and newer

1.In EdAdmin4, under Editorial Configuration, click Hyphenation Rules.

2.Select a scope, and then double-click a hyphenation rule for the designated language.

3.In the HyphenEdtDlg, in Type, select Liang.

4.Next to the Hyphenation data, click Import.

5.Locate the PATTN file and then click OK.

In versions 1.4 and prior

1.In EdAdmin4, under Editorial Configuration, click Hyphenation Rules.

2.Select a scope, and then double-click a hyphenation rule for the designated language.

3.Click ASCII patterns and then load the PATTN file.

Note

The format of files to be imported by various options on this dialog is the one obtained by exporting data from GN3 database.
