Patterns section of the stroke styles editor allow you to create white space(s) in a stroke, i.e. dashing.

Dashed stroke

For example, specifying 300 for Black and 200 for White, you get a dash where the black part takes 3/5 and white part takes 2/5. You can play with those values to change the stroke appearance.

Dotted grouped stroke

Using Offset value, a Round cap style and one pair of Black/White values, you get a dotted grouped stroke.
