Which configuration file?

This topic explains which configuration file is to be edited for the specific purpose.

Which configuration file?

For global configuration: GLOBALCONFIG.XML, EDITORIALCONFIG.XML, SERVERCONFIG.XML, APPSETTINGS.XML, WEB.CONFIG

For workflows: WF_XXXX.XML files.

For menus, keyboard and mouse shortcuts, navigators, search dialogs, and preview panels of client applications

oof Ted4 and Fred4 shared items (Articles, Shell, Publishing, Planning etc. main tabs), edit TED4_TABITEMS.XML and TED4_CONFIG.XML. Find files under ..\GN4\config\global\GN4 folder on the GN4 server.

oof Fred4 specific items (Pages, Edition, Tracking main tabs), edit FRED4_TABITEMS.XML and and FRED4_CONFIG.XML. Find files under ..\GN4\config\global\GN4 folder on the GN4 server.

oFor EdAdmin4 items, specific to GN4 configuration items, edit EDADMIN4_TABITEMS.XML and  and EDADMIN4_CONFIG.XML. Find files under ..\GN4\config\global\GN4 folder on the GN4 server.

oFor general Admin items, edit ADMIN4_TABITEMS.XML and ADMIN4_CONFIG.XML. Find files under ..\GN4\config\global folder on the GN4 server.

For browser menus, actions, directory styles, edit and search dialogs, actions

PortalConfig.xml, gnpc_Config.xml, gnpcint_config.xml.

For schemas, edit GN4.XSD, or other XSD files. Find files under ..\GN4\config\schemas folder on the GN4 server.

For translation strings, edit XML files under ..\GN4\config\strings folder on the GN4 server.

TABITEMS or CONFIG?

Edit XXX_TABITEMS.XML file to manage:

Main menu with drop-down menus, context menus (right-click and others), toolbars, keyboard and mouse shortcuts.

Main tabs definitions, navigators, splitters.

Edit XXX_CONFIG.XML file to manage:

Directory styles, sort orders, list of fields available in search panels, pop-up panels, preview panels.

List of fields in data dialog boxes (not the ones VB based).

Edit add-ins to manage:

System scripts and system dialogs (only Tera staff).

Custom scripts.

Custom dialogs.
