Use the Articles navigator when you need to locate an article and for other article managing operations.
Should you need to perform operations on articles, more oriented to managing (browsing, sending, retrieving) and do not include content editing, you may want to use the Shell main tab instead.

In the current default configuration, you can locate articles by name, by folders, by modified date, by workstate and by authors. Your customized configuration may be different than the standard configuration, so you might have available more or less or different options. You can combine more search options at once.
To find articles by name, type the name in the Name box. Note: with every character typed, GN4 updates the search and the list of found articles. The search option is automatically set to Containing, but you can select other search options.

You can combine "find by name" with "find by folder". More search options can be easily added in the configuration.
When done, click the refresh button.

To find articles by modified date, click the Modified on box, and then select what you want.

When done, click the refresh button.

To find articles by workstate, click the Workstate box, and then select one or more workstates.
When done, click the refresh button.

To find articles by authors, click the Authors box, and then select one or more authors.
When done, click the refresh button.

Double-click the found article to open it for editing, or right-click it and then select the appropriate option. The article opens on the Articles main tab.

Click the to expand the draft sidebar to review the content of the selected item.
