System-wide preferences are stored in the database, typically by means of editing configuration files and loading them in the database, or by editing database directly in EdAdmin4 / Administrative Browser.

System-wide preference covers connection parameters, database parameters, global variables, print presets and user interface.

Some of system-wide preferences are to be set in the installing phase, while others are to be set in the configuring phase.
