There might be many reasons for a general malfunctioning of a GN4. Some of them may be caused by GN4 bugs, or by various non-GN4 related problems.
This topic does not pretend to cover all such cases - it just gives you some basic hints, worthwhile to try before starting to dig deeper.
1.First of all, if that's the first attempt to start a freshly installed GN4 system, check if all prerequisites were correctly installed. See the list of prerequisites in Download GN4 files and prerequisites for servers, and Download GN4 client files and prerequisites for clients. If the system used to work before and you are reasonably sure that nobody (we mean **nobody**) did not reinstall or change the system, you can skip this step.
2.Check that your network connection functions well, and that the connection is not intermittent or extremely slow. Unstable network connection can cause number of problems, from the slow performances to the intermittent crashes. Make sure to include in the check the cables, routers, switches etc.
3.Check that there are no viruses on the network, on servers, or on client computers.
4.Read the Event logs on servers and client computer, to exclude various hardware or OS-related problems.
5.Check that the servers or client computer have no Windows-related problems: therefore, the CPU usage is not too high or constantly high, the RAM is not entirely used so the computer is swapping memory to the page file etc. If in doubt, reboot the client computer first and see if the reboot fixes the problem. Then, consider to reboot the servers.
