The Rule tools are available on the Pages main tab in Fred.

Access the rule tools through the tool in the toolbox (the rule tool), and through the right-click on that tool (additional rule tools).

Select the tool, and then, on the page, drag the area on the designated position. If the area width is greater than area height, the rule is horizontal and its width is the area width, otherwise, the rule is vertical, and its height is the area height.

While the tool is active, the pointer looks like . When you end dragging by a left click, it returns to the normal tool . To abort the creation of the object, press Esc before left click.

Hold SHIFT while clicking, or right-click the tool to display the menu of additional rule-related tools.
