T_SaveGet1="YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. - A wildfire northeast of Dunraven Pass in north-central Yellowstone National Park has grown but poses no threat to structures and is partially contained.

Fire fighters say the Antelope Fire grew to 760 acres by Saturday morning and is 10 percent contained. The fire has been burning since Tuesday, when a lightning strike started the fire in a grassy area.

Fire fighters say the blaze is far from roads and camping areas. One hiking trail was closed as a precaution.

Officials say part of the Antelope Fire includes areas burned by the park's wildfires in 1988. Fire fighters say the blaze has not crossed the Yellowstone River." T_SaveGet2="Yellowstone wildfire 10 percent contained" T_SaveGet3="Yellowstone Fire Facts

Large fires burn through forests of Yellowstone every 250 - 400 years.

Large fires burn the park's grasslands every 25 - 60 years.

Plants in the park, such as lodgepole pine and aspen, are adapt to fire.

Lightning starts as average of 22 fires each year.

80% of naturally started fires go out by themselves.

Suppressing fire reduces the number and variety of plant and animal species.

Until the 1970s, park managers believed they had to extinguish fires to preserve park resources.

Scientific research changed these beliefs and in 1972, Yellowstone began allowing most natural fires to burn.

Between 1972 and 1987, 234 fires burned nearly 35,000 acres - most in two dry years, 1979 and 1981.

The 1988 fires brought management changes and new opportunities for research" T_SaveGet4="Working on the Yellowstone wildfires" T_SaveGet5="Hi Community. T_SaveGet7="The Bloodhound SSC land speed record attempt is being backed by 79 (Whitchurch) Air Cadets, who are the first Squadron in the country to support the project.

The Supersonic car will be piloted by Wg Cdr Andy Green OBE and is aiming to achieve the first 1,000mph record on land.

The idea of supporting the venture was put forward by Cdt Cpl Sam Ellis, and the squadron has raised money and will have `79 (Whitchurch) Squadron Air Training Corps’ put on Bloodhound's fin.

Sam said: “I was in a lesson about propulsion and discussing how the thrust from jet engines give an aircraft its speed. It was mentioned that the Bloodhound SSC project involved building a car with a jet engine capable of doing 1,000mph. It sounded just incredible!”

Officer Commanding Flt Lt Patrick Collins said: “Sam’s enthusiasm for this project has been infectious and it’s credit to him that the cadets have raised the sponsor money and the Squadron name will be displayed on the fin of this phenomenal car. The project fits in well with the ethos of the Air Cadets, `Venture Adventure’, and it raises many engineering challenges that will hopefully inspire cadets to take a closer interest in engineering and science.”

Cpl Ellis was sent a certificate of thanks for the Squadron’s support for the project by the Bloodhound SSC team.

The Bloodhound SSC project is due to make their attempt on the world record in the Northern Cape of South Africa in 2011." T_SaveGet8="JET AGE: Cdt Cpl Sam Ellis and inset, the Bloodhound SSC at Farnborough in July 2010." T_SaveGet9=""
