Feeds apply XSL transformations and other operations on native XML of an object, to display them, to export them etc. They're used in conjunction with do.ashx command, e.g. do.ashx?cmd=feed&name=XXX. XML export options withing feed_* files can be also used in workflows or as parameters for srv4 export or cmd4 export commands.
