To use a desktop version of InDesign use the command CreateExtDocLocal or UpdateExtDocLocal. GN4InDesignHost must be installed on the same workstation as InDesign. The server parameter is http://localhost:8732/GN4InDesignHost/InDesignHost, this is configured in the GN4InDesignHost.exe.config file.

For the JavaScript on the server to read this new function it needs to be rebuilt with Regenerating the Adobe InDesign server Java API.

To update the page when a linked item is changed you can use the workflow InDesignServerUpdateExtDocFromLinked with triggers:
