Article Mode

Build 1501 on 14/Nov/2017  This topic last edited on: 28/Oct/2016, at 11:48

This is a mode that allows an InDesign document to be opened but not checked out so that text items can be edited.

Please note any changes to the document are not saved back to the server, i.e. if you move/delete/add a box or alter the number of text columns the change is not saved to the server, only text edits are saved.

To open a page in this mode double-click on an article that is linked to a page. This will open the page if it is not already open. It will also select the text items that are in the article and check out the body if it is not locked.

If the article in on multiple pages (a jumped article) then all the relevant pages will be opened.

Additionally, if you attempt to open a page that is locked (open currently by another user) you are asked if you would like to open it in Article Mode for a read-only view.

Note

It won't work for the articles that are not linked to any document. GN4 cannot open such article with a double-click as there is no document linked. In such case, the error "No document open" is displayed.
