Local texts on a page of Fred4 are identical to normal texts except that:

You can edit local texts only in Fred4.

You can select a local text only by selecting a frame that contains it.

You cannot open nor edit local texts in Ted4.

Local texts do not have audit or versions;

Local texts cannot flow in multiple frames, except if such frames are created by text wrapping or as multi-shape frames;

Local texts are typically not archived.

Local texts have no names, just IDs.

About local text format

Local text have their own format.

When a local text is created in a page, it gets the format of the master page associated with the page.

When a local text is created in a master page, it gets the format associated to the master page.

When a local text is created in a library object, the user is queried for the format to assign to the text.

It is possible to modify the format of a local text - on a page, master page or library object - using the TxtFormats command having selected the frame, if there's not a current linked text.

When the format of a master page is changed the format of all the local text on the master page having the format equal to the old default one is changed to the new one.

When the format of a page is changed - due to a change of master page or due to the change of the format of the master page itself - the format of all the local text already on the page is left unchanged. The command TxtAssignFormat assigns to all the modifiable local texts of a page the format associated with the page.

When editing a local text the 'TxtSave' command and the non-local auto save have no effect: a local text is saved when the page layer is saved. The local auto save works.
