GN4 uses edition numbers to distinguish between multiple daily editions of the same title, e.g. first edition for 22/07/01, second edition for 22/07/01, and so on. Edition numbers are identifiers (numbers or names). Edition numbers are optional for the single-edition newspapers.

When planning edition number names, consider that they appear in various dialog boxes in the alphabetic order and not in the order of creation or importance. Names may be changed later without any consequences except the order of appearance in dialog boxes.
