Thumbnail of saved pages

The page thumbnail is automatically created every time you save a page.

Fred4 can save page thumbnail also in form of areas, frames or paginated items. The type of preview and its resolution is specified in the system script, attached to the page save function.

pagethumb_classic

pagethumb_areas

pagethumb_classicf

Classic view

(Page.PagePreview "s400")

Area view

(Page.PagePreview "fi400")

Classic view with frames

(Page.PagePreview "fs400")

Note

In version 1.5 and newer, thumbnails are automatically refreshed also on shared layers.

In versions prior to 1.5, changes on a shared layer may not be visible on thumbnail on all pages which share it. In case of a layer, shared with more pages, only the thumbnail of the page saved in Fred4 gets refreshed. In other words, if a layer of the page 8 in the first edition is shared with the page 5 in the second edition, when you save the page 8 in Fred4, the thumbnail of the page 5 in the second edition is not refreshed.

The way around this problem is to use the custom Fred4 script which will identify the pages which share a layer with the current page, load them and generate their updated preview.
