These steps are to be performed on a page, opened on the Pages main tab in Fred4.

Place a image over selected body columns Select as many body columns as you want the image spans over, right-click, point to Add and then select Image. An alternative is to use the Photo icon in the Article Frames toolbar. This will place the image over specified columns, with auto-calculated height. If your preferences enable auto-insertion of caption frame (Edit > Preferences > Extra > Added Objects > Add automatically when creating placeholder, the caption is added below the image. Place a image in a manually drawn placeholder Press I to draw a placeholder, and then press L or click the link icon.
