The 'preview mode' shows only the items which will be printed, except empty frames, that are always displayed (but won't be printed). If there are dummy images, or not updated images, they're shown in the final view too (as oval dummy image on the figure).

To achieve such view on the current page

On the View menu, click Preview mode.

This makes sure that Images and Printable are selected, while Guides, Frames, and Text Information are not selected. The status of Formats and Types is not important, as they are never displayed if Frames are not selected. The status of Column and Module is not important, as they are never displayed if Guides are not selected.
